Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 3 on the offensive boards, a fact the Lutheran Lions proved on Wednesday. They came out on top against Legend by a score of 61-52. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lutheran.
Leading Lutheran to victory were Hunter Caldwell and Braydon Jacob. Caldwell dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds, while Jacob scored 22 points. The contest was Jacob's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Speckman, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Legend lost, one person who can't be blamed is Creed Schutte. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Schutte continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Carson Flowers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The win got Lutheran back to even at 2-2. As for Legend, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Lutheran will look to defend their home court on Friday against Englewood at 7:00 p.m. Englewood comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Legend, they will take on Denver East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
