Maddie Roach was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Forsan got a massive performance out of Ary'Anna Mealing, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits Mealing has posted since back in February. AbigAil Olson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Forsan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wink made easy work of McCamey on Tuesday and carried off a 19-4 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Forsan, Wink also got a great game from a two-way player: Viviana Flores. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Flores was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Kaylee Jones was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Mendoza, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Wink is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Forsan, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Forsan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .501. However, it's not like Wink struggles in that department as they've averaged .487. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
