The Marathon Dolphins had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 52-43 victory over Coral Shores on Friday. This was payback for Marathon, who suffered a 71-53 loss the last time these two teams met.
Marathon found their leader in underclassman DAESHAWN HOLMES, who almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points HOLMES has scored all season. Another player making a difference was JOSH KOLER, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Marathon's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-16. As for Coral Shores, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marathon will face off against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Coral Shores on the road again on Tuesday and play against Key West at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Key West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
