The Centralia Panthers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Onaga Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Centralia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Centralia beat Marysville 7-4.

Tessa Parthemer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Ashlan Alderfer was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Tava Gibbs was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
Centralia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Onaga unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Oskaloosa, falling 16-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buffaloes have suffered since April 7, 2025.
Ember Conger was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Abbie Ringel, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Onaga's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Centralia, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Centralia has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Onaga struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Centralia skirted past Onaga 13-12 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffaloes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
