Akron is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Haxtun, who was ranked third at the time (Akron was ranked first). The Rams snuck past the Fightin' Bulldogs with a 28-24 win on Friday. Those 28 points were actually the fewest the Rams have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Those 309 passing yards gave Randel a new career-high. Jakzon Livesay helped Randel out on the ground, picking up 178 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Akron didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Livesay and Jace Curtis.
Meanwhile, Dayspring Christian Academy took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 50-6 win over Merino. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Akron better focus on containing Elijah Martin and Hawkins Flanagan as the pair were huge in Dayspring Christian Academy's win. Martin rushed for 189 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries, while Flanagan rushed for 79 yards and two scores. Martin's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Dayspring Christian Academy's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Aj Soucie refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Akron's record is now 6-0. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their record now sits at 6-1.
Saturday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Randel and Flanagan. Randel just won't slow down this season and has thrown 10 touchdowns (and and only 1 picks) while averaging 160.8 passing yards per game. Flanagan has been a dominant force too and has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 68 passing yards per game.
Akron took their victory against Dayspring Christian Academy when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 34-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
