The Hug Hawks had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They breezed by Trinity Christian on the road to the tune of 76-42. Given Hug's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 39th in Nevada, while Trinity Christian is ranked 765th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Hug to victory were Amari Davis and David Koul. Davis dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Koul dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. Koul is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rayshawn Elisher, who scored 13 points.
Hug pushed their record up to 11-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.5 points per game. As for Trinity Christian, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hug's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wooster at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Wooster is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Trinity Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against El Camino at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Camino is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
