The Badger Braves will challenge the Jackson-Milton Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Badger will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Badger turned things around against Harding on Monday. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 10-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). With that win, the Braves brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Badger let Kiyah Scharfenberg and Madison Lindus run wild. Scharfenberg scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Lindus scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Scharfenberg also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton entered their tilt with Ursuline on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Fighting Irish by a score of 8-4.
Katie Byers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Johns, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivy McBeth, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Jackson-Milton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Badger, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both Badger and Jackson-Milton just can't seem to miss. The Braves have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Jackson-Milton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Badger suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Jackson-Milton in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
