Butte View recap Nov. 7, 2012
Sutter extended the longest winning streak in Butte View this week by beating Oroville, 62-13. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Huskies.
Wheatland took down Gridley 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jackson Hopking threw for 61 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Jordan Long provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Orland beat Winters. He completed five passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 42 yards. Long's favorite target this week was Kavi Ram, who caught two passes for 62 yards.
Zack Garzoli was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 148 yards as the Trojans topped the Warriors.
Trent Little put up the best numbers through the air as Sutter bested the Tigers. He finished with a total of four completions for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Little's favorite target this week was Nathan Ahlers, who caught one pass for 46 yards.
Seth Millington made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Pirates topped the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-11 senior grabbed three interceptions.
Wheatland's Hopking and Jordan Samson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hopking has thrown for 1349 yards this season, while Samson, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 30 catches for 710 yards. Chris Mayes from Winters leads the league in rushing with 1295 yards.
A big matchup in Butte View this week will be when Orland takes on Neil Stinson's team. Mike Mcdonald's team is in second place, while the Pirates are in third place.
Oroville made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,638 from 12,807. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 62-13 victory over Steve Steinmann's team last week.
