Baseball Recap: Fulton Wins Going Away Against Merrill

Fulton hadn't done well against Merrill recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Vandals with a sharp 17-1 victory. Considering the Pirates have won 19 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Litwiller made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Fulton got a big performance out of Parker Hungerford, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Bryson Sattler, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Fulton's win bumped their record up to 27-6. As for Merrill, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8-1.

Fulton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vandals: the pair will be back at it again later today.
