The Ligonier Valley Rams suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against North Star, falling 66-35. While losing is never fun, Ligonier Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while North Star is ranked 226th).
Ethan Smith was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for North Star. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Retassie, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Ligonier Valley's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for North Star, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Ligonier Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Derry at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Star, North Star and Berlin Brothersvalley will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
