Anderson Schultz and Levi Alexander were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Schultz pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Alexander pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Schultz is becoming a predictor of Evangel Christian Academy's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). At bat, Schultz went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Alexander went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Alexander a new career-high.
In other batting news, Zachary Blair was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Evangel Christian Academy is 4-2 when Blair posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Simla had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bison by a score of 7-4.
The team relied heavily on T.J. Eurich, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Simla's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Evangel Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Evangel Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Simla struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
