The Westgate Tigers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westbury. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Westgate came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 257th in Louisiana, while Westbury is ranked 919th in Texas).
Westbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicholas Homer led the charge by scoring 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lepaul Warren, who scored 15 points.
Westgate bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Westbury, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Westgate will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Patterson. Westbury will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heights at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
