Football Recap: Camp Verde Piles Up the Points Against Bourgade Catholic + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Camp Verde). They claimed a resounding 57-6 win over the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles. Considering the Cowboys have won three games by more than 37 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Justin Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 100 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, while also picking up 81 receiving yards and one touchdown. Brayden Walsworth was another key player, throwing for 111 yards and one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Camp Verde proved: they limited Bourgade Catholic to a paltry 1.5 yards per carry. While six picked up at least five total tackles, Gage Selting stood above the rest. He made five total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Camp Verde didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Camp Verde, racking up 21 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jase Seekins, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Nolan Hicks.

The victory (which was Camp Verde's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.3 points on average over those games. As for Bourgade Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Camp Verde will be playing at home against Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Bourgade Catholic, they will head out to face off against Fountain Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
