Softball Preview: Eaton Rolling Away from Home, Visits Wellington

The Eaton Reds will venture away from home to face off against the Wellington Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eaton is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.

Coming off of a narrow two-run win over Lyons, Eaton left no doubt about the outcome versus Resurrection Christian on Thursday. The Reds' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won seven contests by 10 runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Paige Hofer, who went 2-for-3 while posting 3 RBIs, 3 runs, and 1 double. The three runs were her most since the 5th, when she scored three vs. Palmer Ridge. Isabella Ramsey was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 while logging 4 RBIs, 1 double, and 1 triple.

Eaton's pitchers kept the bats quiet and finished the game with only one hit allowed. They have not allowed that few hits since August 18th, when they allowed zero.

Meanwhile, Wellington was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Berthoud 11-9.

Wellington's win was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Larson, who went 2-for-4 while posting 2 doubles, 3 runs, and 1 RBI. Larson has also been pretty much perfect as far as strikeouts are concerned: she hasn't struck out any for 12 straight games.

Eaton has now won five of their last six games at home. That's given a solid lift to their 11-6 record this season. The home victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Wellington, they have now won three of their last four games on the road. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
