The Lee Generals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-33 loss at the hands of Abingdon. Lee was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-13.
Despite the loss, Lee saw an underclassman step up: Kinley Huff scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 45.5% of Lee's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lee has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Abingdon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Lee won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Union at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Union is on a four-game streak of home losses, Lee a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Abingdon, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gate City at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Abingdon is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gate City in Virginia (Abingdon is ranked 37th, while Gate City is ranked 172nd).
