5A Aurora recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A Aurora this week, Rangeview beat Adams City 56-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Rangeview took down the Eagles 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Keitrich Griffin ran for 119 yards and caught 1 pass for 54 yards during the win.
Deron Harrell provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Aurora Central fell to Denver East. He completed 14 passes for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 65 yards. Harrell's favorite target this week was Ja'ron Kellem, who caught 6 passes for 121 yards.
He went 10-30 with 3 interceptions.
Jevin Jordan was the best running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 208 yards as the Trojans lost to Gateway. Harrell also contributed to the rushing game with 65 yards on the ground.
5-foot-10 quarterback Austin Ruiz of the Thunderbirds is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,304. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kellem. The Aurora Central star has 33 catches for 633 yards.
At the moment, the Angels are in fourth, while David Gonzales' team is in first.
The Raiders led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Adams City. Griffin ran for 119 yards and caught 1 pass for 54 yards in the win.
