Tunstall (Dry Fork, Va.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 44-23 win over
Bassett (Va.).
The Trojans scored three points in the first quarter. Tunstall scored on a field goal by
Nick Eckstein.
THS was up 30-8 at the half after taking the lead on a field goal by Eckstein in the first quarter.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 22.
The Dry Fork school's standout player in the win was
Jacob Barnette. The senior ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The Trojans got revenge for last year's 19-14 loss to the Bengals with the victory.
Bassett (1-6) will play a AA Piedmont game against Martinsville next week, while Tunstall (3-2) will take on Magna Vista also in a AA Piedmont game.
