The Plainfield Quakers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Avon Orioles proved too difficult a challenge. Avon walked away with a 74-62 victory over Plainfield. The victory was all the more spectacular given Avon's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Plainfield is ranked 23rd).
Aniah Smith was her usual excellent self, scoring 39 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 steals. The game was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Mya Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Avon's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Plainfield, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-1.
Avon will head out on the road to face off against Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Plainfield, they will be playing at home against Whiteland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
