Thornton Academy has been an offensive powerhouse for three straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It put the hurt on Massabesic with a conclusive 63 - 7 victory. Thornton Academy made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. The combined 70 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Leavitt (3rd in the power rankings) and Cape Elizabeth (12th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Leavitt took its game against Cape Elizabeth by a confident 42 - 20 score. As a result, Leavitt rose three spots in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Skowhegan (11th in the power rankings) and Marshwood (2nd). This will be the second consecutive road game for Marshwood. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
