Baseball Recap: Douglas Has No Trouble Against Fernley

Douglas had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Fernley on Thursday. The Douglas Tigers put the hurt on the Fernley Vaqueros with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the match before.

Titus Gocke tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Colt Cummins was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Peters, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Douglas' record is now 2-0. As for Fernley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas will face off against McQueen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Fernley, they will challenge Wooster at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fernley has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
