Baseball Recap: Chandler Wins Going Away Against Columbine

Chandler barely beat Columbine the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Chandler Wolves' way against the Columbine Rebels on Thursday as the Chandler Wolves made off with a 13-3 victory. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Luke Rylee looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chandler is 2-0-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Lopez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Thomas Bass was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.

Chandler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in three consecutive contests.

The win got Chandler back to even at 4-4-1. As for Columbine, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Chandler will be playing at home against Highlands Ranch at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chandler knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Highlands Ranch likes a good challenge. As for Columbine, they will take on Highland in a tournament on Friday.
