If the MaxPreps national rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Hay Springs. They and Red Cloud go head to head on Friday in their first playoff matchup of the year. Hay Springs know how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Red Cloud like a good challenge.
Hay Springs might be getting used to good results now that the team has eight wins in a row. They won the contest and then some against Sioux County last Friday, taking the contest 40-19. Senior Trent Reed was the offensive standout of the match for Hay Springs, as he rushed for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. This marked the 8th contest in which Reed has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Red Cloud had to settle for a 27-41 defeat against Maywood/Hayes Center.
Hay Springs's win lifted them to 8-0 while Red Cloud's loss dropped them down to 5-3. We'll see if Hay Springs' success rolls on or if Red Cloud are able to steal their positive momentum.
