Crooms Academy has enjoyed a eight-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Forest Lake Academy Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though First Academy scored an imposing 67 points on Monday, Crooms Academy still came out on top. Crooms Academy walked away with a 79-67 victory over the Eagles.
Crooms Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrell Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Johnson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was D'Elio Cestero, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Forest Lake Academy entered their tilt with the Griffins with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Forest Lake Academy came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 55-47 on Wednesday.
The victory got Crooms Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Forest Lake Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Crooms Academy ended up a good deal behind the Panthers in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, losing 65-49. Can Crooms Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
