The Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle will face off against the Jordan Beetdiggers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Juan Diego Catholic knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Jordan likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Juan Diego Catholic got the win against Cottonwood by a conclusive 15-3. The Soaring Eagle might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Ellie Palmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Palmer was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Juan Diego Catholic got a massive performance out of Oaklee Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Mattie Montoya, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Juan Diego Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Jordan earned a 5-1 victory over Judge Memorial Catholic on Tuesday. The Beetdiggers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Juan Diego Catholic, Jordan also got a great game from a two-way player: Kimani Archibeque. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Archibeque has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Archibeque wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Elinor Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Cambria Culberson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Juan Diego Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Jordan, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Juan Diego Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Jordan struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Juan Diego Catholic got the 'W' when the teams last played on March 4th against Jordan by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Soaring Eagle repeat their success, or do the Beetdiggers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
