Jenkins County's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 47-35 win over Emanuel County Institute. The victory was just what Jenkins County needed coming off of a 66-30 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Montgomery County put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Treutlen 69-41 on the road. Montgomery County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Montgomery County relied on the efforts of Marley Bell, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds, and Amire Banks, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists. Bell is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Erin Adams, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Jenkins County's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Montgomery County, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
Jenkins County lost to Montgomery County on the road by a decisive 53-37 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Jenkins County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
