Baseball Recap: Beatrice Has No Trouble Against Platte Valley

After losing to Platte Valley the last time they met, Beatrice decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Orangemen were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Platte Valley on Saturday. The Orangemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Austin Baldwin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kale Koch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Baldwin wasn't the only one making solid contact: Beatrice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Orangemen are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Beatrice has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Platte Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beatrice will challenge Platteview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Orangemen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Platte Valley, they will be taking part in a tournament against Malcolm at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Platte Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
