The Burlington Wildcats won the last time they faced the Iola Mustangs, and things went their way on Friday too. Burlington walked away with a 65-54 win over Iola. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Burlington.
Iola's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Landon Weide, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Cortland Carson who scored 25 points. Carson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Iola struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Burlington pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Iola, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Burlington will head out on the road to face off against Prairie View on Monday. Prairie View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Burlington is ranked 68th). As for Iola, they will be playing at home against Santa Fe Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe Trail is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
