The St. Mary's Rams will take on the Rocklin Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Mary's comes in on eight and Rocklin on five.
With a playoff game on the line, St. Mary's rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Buffaloes 41-12 on the road. The result was nothing new for St. Mary's, who have now won eight matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Asante Carter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 107 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Carter has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Kenneth Moore iii was another key contributor, gaining 136 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rocklin put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Del Oro on the road to the tune of 35-8. Rocklin pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Del Oro had little chance of recovering from.
Rocklin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Keeley, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Keeley was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Mavrik Collins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped St. Mary's to 11-1 and Manteca to 8-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game Saturday as St. Mary's and Rocklin have no problem gaining yardage. St. Mary's has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 360 total yards per game. However, it's not like Rocklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 354.2 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
St. Mary's couldn't quite finish off Rocklin in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 and fell 51-48. Can St. Mary's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
