Mardela has won three straight games at home, while Decatur has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Mardela Warriors will host the Decatur Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. Mardela knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Decatur likes a good challenge.
Mardela will head into Tuesday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 20) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-62 victory over Pocomoke.
Mardela relied on the efforts of Darion Collins, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds, and Jo'Ziah Sherwood, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Collins has scored at least a third of Mardela's points. Another player making a difference was London Sterling, who posted seven points.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Decatur's strategy against Wicomico on Tuesday. Decatur was the clear victor by a 70-49 margin over Wicomico. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.
Mardela better keep an eye on Davin Chandler. He was instrumental in Decatur's win, dropping a triple-double on 19 points, ten boards, and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Chandler a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Tucker, who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points and three steals.
Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Decatur is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Mardela, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Mardela suffered a grim 62-42 defeat to Decatur in their previous matchup back in January. Will Mardela have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
