The home team had won the previous four meetings between Hidden Valley and Patrick Henry, and Hidden Valley kept the tradition alive. The Titans walked away with a 3-1 win over the Patriots on Monday.
Hidden Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-15.
If Blacksburg wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Christiansburg, they should've done a better job of containing Reese Hall. The Blue Demons skirted past the Bruins 3-2 with plenty of help from Hall, who had 28 digs and 15 aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Christiansburg took Blacksburg into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-9, 25-27, 22-25, 15-8.
Hidden Valley's record now sits at 22-5. As for Christiansburg, their record is now 22-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Hidden Valley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9 aces per game. However, it's not like Christiansburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
