Royce Potter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 62 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries, while also picking up 48 receiving yards and one score. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Criss, who threw for 169 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 8-for-8 passing.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cedar Vale/Dexter proved: they limited West Elk to a paltry 1.3 yards per carry. The Spartans didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.7.
Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 52-18 loss at the hands of Oswego. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Although Central took the loss, they still got scores from Ethan Ferguson, Bradyn Nellsch, and Treighton Hafenstein.
Cedar Vale/Dexter's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for Cedar Vale/Dexter against Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-8 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Raiders' Austin Johnson, who rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Spartans to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
