The Mishicot Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Southern Door Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mishicot managed to slip by Roncalli the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians came up short against the Jets on Thursday, falling 3-0. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Jets since Thursday.
While Mishicot was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-23, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Southern Door hadn't done well against Sevastopol recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 win over the Pioneers.
Southern Door had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23.
Mishicot better focus on containing Alanna Paye and Ava Everard as the pair were huge in Southern Door's win. Paye had 25 digs and two aces, while Everard had 12 digs and three aces. What's more, Paye posted four assists, the most she's had since back in August.
Southern Door was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sevastopol only served eight.
Southern Door is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-13 record this season. As for Mishicot, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-22 record this season.
