The Chilton Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the New Holstein Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chilton has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while New Holstein will arrive with six straight wins.
On Monday, Chilton didn't have quite enough to beat Two Rivers and fell 10-9.
Mya Grenzer stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Eliana Bates, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, New Holstein won against Brillion on Monday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Huskies walked away with a 4-1 victory over Kiel.
Reese Kraus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, New Holstein saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Horn, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
New Holstein pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chilton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like New Holstein struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chilton skirted past New Holstein 5-4 when the teams last played on April 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
