Basketball Recap: Asheboro's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of five wins, Asheboro's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Randleman Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-42 on December 10th.

Randleman had a senior duo take command as Tyshaun Goldston almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards and Jireh Price went 5 of 8 on his way to 17 points. What's more, Goldston also racked up five blocks, the most he's had since back in January. Connor Cassidy was another key player, putting up five points and six rebounds.

Asheboro's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2. As for Randleman, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Asheboro will venture away from home to face off against Eastern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Randolph is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.8 points per game this season. As for Randleman, they will challenge Uwharrie Charter Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Randleman also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 58.2 points per game.
