Basketball Recap: Mckinley Falls Despite Big Games from K'lynn Carter and Mya Taylor

McKinley was the 39-36 winner over GlenOak when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the McKinley Bulldogs and the GlenOak Golden Eagles didn't end well, with the McKinley Bulldogs falling 55-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 306th).

Despite the defeat, McKinley had strong showings from Mya Taylor, who posted 18 points and eight steals, and K'Lynn Carter, who put up seven points and 14 boards. The contest was Taylor's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sha'Rayla Hall, who had six points.

Even though they lost, McKinley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive matchups.

McKinley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for GlenOak, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-13.

McKinley will challenge Perry at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. McKinley is facing Perry at the right time seeing as Perry is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for GlenOak, they will head out on the road to face off against Hoover at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
