The Garrard County Golden Lions's five-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bluegrass United 62-60. The win was just what Garrard County needed coming off of a 74-43 loss in their prior game.
Despite the loss, Bluegrass United still got an impressive performance from Caleb Burnett, who scored 30 points along with five steals. Burnett hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy King, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Garrard County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Bluegrass United, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garrard County will face off against Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Garrard County in Kentucky (Lincoln County is ranked 101st, while Garrard County is ranked 238th). As for Bluegrass United, they will head out on the road to square off against Nicholas County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Nicholas County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
