The Oak Mountain Academy Warriors came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Flint River Academy 45-31. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 6 on the offensive boards, as Oak Mountain Academy did.
Brandon Bain was his usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeb Harper, who scored four points along with two steals.
Flint River Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bode Chaney, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Cole Riner was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Oak Mountain Academy pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Flint River Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Mountain Academy will take on St. George's at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Flint River Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Westwood at 5:30 a.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Westwood is ranked 523rd, while Flint River Academy is ranked 520th).
