Incarnate Word Academy has been on the road for four straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Goliad Tigers at 3:15 p.m. Incarnate Word Academy will be strutting in after a win while Goliad will be coming in after a loss.
Two weeks ago, Incarnate Word Academy didn't have too much trouble with Aransas Pass on the road as they won 49-34. Given Incarnate Word Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Aransas Pass is ranked 1193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emma Romanczyk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Incarnate Word Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Lily Herandez, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Goliad had to settle for a 41-39 defeat against Lifegate Christian on Tuesday. Goliad has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Incarnate Word Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Goliad, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
