It's playoff time, and Concord had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos 47-45. The win was nothing new for the Minutemen as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Concord got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was BO BRUNNER out in front who rushed for 160 yards and two scores while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 300 yards and one TD. The Minutemen also relied on BRUNNER, who's 48-yard boot wound up being the difference in the game. Another player making a difference was DEREK GOMEZ, who gained 206 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Concord was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 214 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Lafayette Jefferson's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Bryce Vanostran and Trysten Barrett. Vanostran picked up 281 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Barrett threw for 525 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt. Vanostran showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 62 yards. A healthy portion of Barrett's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) also went to Omar Williams Jr.
Concord's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Looking ahead, Concord will head out to challenge Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
