While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Richmond is ranked 16th).
When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Quincy Reynolds. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. ?scar Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Richmond's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braiden Hogg, who scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Hogg scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedric Horton, who scored 16 points.
Madison's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Richmond, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison and Rushville will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Richmond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in New Palestine's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
