The Lee-Scott Academy Warriors will face off against the Valley Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Lee-Scott Academy took a 33-point defeat the last time they faced off against Montgomery Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eagles 44-41. Those 44 points were actually the fewest the Warriors have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Lee-Scott Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Haiden Harper out in front who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Cook, who scored seven points along with five boards and four steals.
Lee-Scott Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Valley posted their closest victory since December 10, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past Handley 52-49. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.
Lee-Scott Academy better keep an eye on Erin Frazier. He was instrumental in Valley's win, putting up 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Frazier a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Azerion Jennings, who earned ten points and six rebounds.
Lee-Scott Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Valley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lee-Scott Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.3 rebounds.
