Spencer is 0-6 against Central since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spencer Greenwave will look to defend their home court against the Central Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Spencer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Spencer lost to Harris County at home by a decisive 50-33 margin. While losing is never fun, Spencer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Harris County is ranked 62nd).
Despite the loss, Spencer had strong showings from Alexandria Berk, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Malaja Dyous, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Berk has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nadra Rosser, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Central entered their tilt with Collins Hill with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Central came out on top against Collins Hill by a score of 54-45 on Monday.
Spencer's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Spencer was dealt a bruising 64-29 loss at the hands of Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Spencer was down 41-14.
