Baseball Game Preview: Deer Park Stags vs. West Valley Eagles

The Deer Park Stags will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the West Valley Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are still undefeated after four games, but that won't be the case come Saturday.

On Wednesday, Deer Park made easy work of East Valley and carried off a 14-1 victory. Fans of the Stags have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Ezekiel Callaham made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ian Olietti was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Olietti is crushing it when it comes to hits: he's got at least three every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Criss, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Deer Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Valley only posted an OBP of .320.

Meanwhile, West Valley got the win against Rogers on Saturday by a conclusive 20-2.

West Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Deer Park, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-0.

Deer Park might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from West Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Stags avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
