The Eastlake Wolves will head out to square off against the Liberty Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Eastlake's last matchup with Redmond could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. Eastlake lost 17-5 to Redmond. Wolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mustangs since on Wednesday.
Audrey Borup made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Hannah Arnold was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Liberty won against Juanita on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Liberty came out on top against Lake Washington by a score of 7-4. The win was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on three straight.
Avery Huh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Huh was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Rockey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Berlyn Crockett also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Having lost for the first time this season, Eastlake fell to 3-1. As for Liberty, their record is now 5-2.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eastlake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
