AAA District 16 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Whitehaven extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 16 this week by beating Mitchell, 37-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Memphis Central took down Washington 53-2 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Memphis East's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Eddie Harper has thrown for 358 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Marcus Robinson has 10 catches for 194 yards. Antonio Clifton leads the league in rushing with 766 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Memphis East takes on Whitehaven. As it stands, the Mustangs are in fourth, while Rodney Saulsberry's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Memphis East and the Tigers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Marcus Wimberly's team comes in having scored 146 this season, while Whitehaven has scored 265. The Mustangs scored 27 points last week as they lost to Craigmont.
Hamilton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,075 from 6,574. The advance stemmed from a 16-0 victory over Westwood last week.
