Baseball Recap: Tom Bean Has No Trouble Against Whitewright

While Tom Bean put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Whitewright. The Tomcats blew past the Tigers 10-0. Considering the Tomcats have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Keaton Reed made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Reed was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Braylin Barrett and Cash Linder did most of the damage at the plate: Barrett scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Linder scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Linder is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Reid Sharp, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Tom Bean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in three consecutive games.

Tom Bean's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Whitewright, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Tom Bean will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tioga at 6:30 p.m. The Tomcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Whitewright, they will take on Honey Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
