The Troy Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Sunny Hills Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Troy has not done well against Sonora recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Troy escaped with a win against Sonora by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53. The win was all the more spectacular given Troy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Sonora is ranked 97th).
Meanwhile, Sunny Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Buena Park on Tuesday, taking the game 60-48.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sunny Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kingsley Ashley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Raeden Bobadilla, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Troy and bumps their season record up to 14-7. Sunny Hills' record now sits at 13-9.
Troy came up short against Sunny Hills in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 62-49. Can Troy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
