After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Gettysburg (Pa.) held on for a 14-7 victory over
Big Spring (Newville, Pa.) on Saturday. The difference for the Warriors was
Jordan Nye ran for a touchdown.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at seven. The Warriors took the lead for good on a Nye touchdown run with 4:00 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Gettysburg's standout player in the win was Nye. The senior running back ran for one touchdown.
The Bulldogs' lone touchdown came on a run in the first quarter.
GHS had struggled this season, allowing 42.0 points per game.
The Warriors got revenge for last year's 33-27 loss to Big Spring with the victory.
The loss comes after Big Spring defeated James Buchanan 28-6 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for Gettysburg, which lost to Northern York last week, 41-0.
In a Mid-Penn - Colonial game next week Gettysburg (2-5) takes on James Buchanan, and Big Spring (1-6) will go up against Greencastle-Antrim also in a Mid-Penn - Colonial game.
