It was a good run, but the El Capitan Vaqueros unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 85-40 loss at the hands of Mira Mesa. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points El Capitan has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, El Capitan saw an underclassman step up: Jason Wilson scored 18 points. The matchup was Wilson's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Andy Novelo-Gerardo, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
El Capitan struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
El Capitan's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Mira Mesa, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
El Capitan will be staying on the road on December 27th to face off against Tournament Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Mira Mesa, they will face off against San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
