Emily Doiron put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. In other batting news, Aubrey Thomas and Ansley Molaison did some serious damage despite the final result: Thomas scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Molaison went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Thomas a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Madison Hundley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, E.D. White entered their tilt with Berwick on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-0 victory. Give the Cardinals' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Like Houma Christian, E.D. White also got a great game from a two-way player: Shelbee Gros. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Gros was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haleigh Perilloux, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Gabrielle Barrios was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
E.D. White was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
E.D. White pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Houma Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Houma Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like E.D. White struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
